As part of our studio course, the assignment was to create a logo for different municipal departments in Sharjah, U.A.E. I was allocated to the group working on the Emirates Post logo. We were to visit their facilities and learn the process that would take place on a regular bases. In addition, we were asked to market the logo on different products such as vehicles, t-shirts, etc…
My Approach
While visiting the Emirates Post office, I took numerous photos to guide me in the creation of the logo and determining the identity of the business. After analyzing these photos, I proceeded to research about other post offices, their logos and identified the trends used in this market. I recognized that the colour blue was a commonly used colour in such businesses, as it symbolizes the nature of this industry. I decided to use an envelop for the logo since it is one the main services offered by the post office. I continued by sketching ideas for the logo on paper and then transferred the final design digitally.
